Lindsay and Jarrad’s farm is a family business and they have been involved in farming in Central Queensland for many years. They also have properties from Emerald to Moura that encompass both beef and broadacre farming and they grow both organic certified and non-organic produce.
The move to organic farming began about 5 years ago at the Rolleston property, and over the years they have progressively converted an increasing amount of the farm into organic certification.
The property has good grain storage infrastructure for managing the harvest and segregations of various grains.
The climate in the region is ideal for both summer and winter cropping, with their winter crop program suited to wheat, spelt, barley, oats [forage for livestock], and chickpeas. In spring and summer, they usually decide between sorghum, maize, sunflowers, mungbean, or millets. They may choose to grow several different crops each season.
They began supplying Kialla Pure Foods and AusOrganic Feeds with in-conversion to organic sorghum, sunflowers, and wheat, and have now become fully certified organic (known as A Grade Certification). Like many farmers, they also choose to certify for USDA NOP and Korean requirements as this provides additional market opportunities for both the grower and for ourselves as the processor.
